Job description |
The Department of Philosophy and Division of Emerging Media at Boston University invite applications for a Mellon Foundation post-doctoral fellowship in the study of ethical, social and epistemological issues arising out of emerging computational technologies. Areas of specialization may include social and political philosophy, philosophy of science, and epistemology, but with a strong interest in the theme of the Mellon Sawyer Seminar to be held over the 2017-2018 academic year. Specific topics of this seminar include Social Media and Democracy, Human-Machine Interface and the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and the End User, Hypertext and Digital Humanities Resources, and Privacy in the Digital Age. Responsibilities will include helping to teach one course in elementary logic and philosophy, organization of a series of workshops and public lectures; attendance at the seminar events, and aid in editing an anthology as well as a special journal issue.
