Job description

The Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College announces one post-doctoral fellowships for the 2017-2018 academic year. The fellow should have a Ph.D. in political theory, philosophy, or a related field in the humanities, and his or her work should intersect meaningfully with Hannah Arendt’s thinking. In residence at the Arendt Center, the fellow will pursue his or her independent research at the Center, which includes Hannah Arendt’s personal library. The fellow will have access to Arendt’s Digital Archive through a relationship with the Arendt Center in New York City. In addition, the fellow will have the opportunity to participate in seminars, conferences, lectures, colloquia, and workshops organized by the Center.

The fellow will hold the title of the Klemens von Klemperer Post-Doctoral Fellow and teach one (1) course each semester at Bard College’s Annandale campus.

He/She will also be responsible for advising one (1) Senior Thesis Project and giving one (1) public lecture based on their work at Bard. The fellow will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Arendt Center blog.

The fellowship runs from August 29th, 2017 through May 31, 2018 and includes compensation of $30,000, including benefits. The fellowship is for one year renewable for a second year.
