Job description

Applications are invited for a 2-year teaching associate position, designed to provide additional teaching in the philosophy of science while Drs Anna Alexandrova, Marta Halina and Stephen John participate in the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI).

Candidates will be expected to teach general philosophy of science, and ability to teach medical ethics and philosophy of cognitive science at the undergraduate level may be an advantage. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in philosophy of science (and will hold a PhD certificate) before taking up the post.

The role holder will help support and maintain the Department's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will contribute to the lecturing, supervising, examination and administration of courses for both undergraduate and graduate students in the Department. The candidate should be prepared to deliver lectures and supervise written work on a broad range of topics in the philosophy of science. The position has a significant research component; it is expected that the holder of the position will have ample time to devote to research. The position will start on 1 September 2017, and will include an initial 6-month probation period.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
