Job Description:
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a one-year Contractually Limited Term appointment (CLTA) in Ethics, with a particular emphasis on Biomedical and Applied Ethics.  The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning on August 1, 2017 and ending on July 31, 2018.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field by the date of appointment, or shortly thereafter. They must demonstrate a record of excellence in research, a commitment to excellence in teaching and show a demonstrated record of ongoing development in both teaching and research.

Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching can be demonstrated by strong endorsements from referees, teaching accomplishments highlighted as part of the application, teaching evaluations, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. The successful candidate must be able to teach a wide range of courses in Biomedical and Applied Ethics, from the introductory to advanced levels. The candidate’s research will focus on Ethics, especially Biomedical and Applied Ethics broadly conceived. Excellence in research is evidenced primarily by publications in leading journals in the field, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, a strong research dossier submitted as part of the application and strong letters of reference by referees of high international standing.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
