Postdoctoral research fellowships

The Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas, through the Coordinación de Humanidades, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) offers postdoctoral research fellowships. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to:

1. carry out their proposed research, and publish some of its results; 

2. work full time in the research project; 

3. participate in the academic activities of the Institute, as well as in group research projects;
4. teach at least one course throughout the year of the fellowship and supervise the work of undergraduates and graduates,

Knowledge of Spanish is not required, but successful non-Spanish speaking applicants will be expected to learn the language during their stay.

UNAM offers fellowships twice a year:

Period I: for fellowships starting in September 1, 2012, the deadline is May 7, 2012.

Period II: for fellowships starting in March 1, 2013, the deadline is October 10, 2012.

All the documents must be received by this date.

The starting date of the fellowship is not deferrable.

Duration. One year, with a possible extension of a second year.

Grant. Approximately $1,850 US per month ($24,000 Mexican pesos) (two-bedroom apartments near campus are approximately $450 US per month)

Requirements. PhD, obtained in a period no longer than 3 years before the beginning of the fellowship. Applicants should be younger than 40 at the time of the beginning of the fellowship.
