Associate or Full Professor (EXPIRED)

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA, Tuscaloosa, AL.  The Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts and Sciences invite applications for Director of the new McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars, an undergraduate, residential, interdisciplinary program for students who are planning a career as a physician.  This is an opportunity to influence and broaden the education that promising pre-med students receive and to better prepare them for the changing face of medicine.  Duties include curriculum and program development, the daily management of the program, as well as some teaching.  The starting date is Fall Semester 2018, or earlier if possible.

This position will be tenured and at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.  This 12-month appointment will be in the philosophy department and a Ph.D. in philosophy is required.  Administrative experience is also required and an additional post-graduate degree or experience in some health or medicine-related field is desirable.  Areas of Specialty should be related to the philosophy, teaching or practice of medicine, and may include topics within the philosophy of medicine or medical ethics broadly construed.
