Job description

Postdoctoral Associate Openings at Cornell Tech (NYC)

Cornell Tech is accepting applications for one or two postdoctoral positions to conduct research on technical, philosophical, ethical, and legal issues relating to privacy, data science, and AI. Applications are welcome from recent Ph.D. graduates with a range of disciplinary backgrounds (e.g. computer and information science, philosophy, data science, media studies, public policy, social science, etc.). Law graduates or ABDs with strong backgrounds or work experience in related fields are also eligible to apply. The projects supporting these fellowships are supervised by Professor Helen Nissenbaum, in collaboration with other Cornell Tech faculty and with researchers at other U.S. research institutions. These are one-year positions with renewal for a second year depending on further funding.

Postdoctoral Associates are expected to reside in the New York area and encouraged to participate in the intellectual life of Cornell Tech. Applications should be sent by email to Vasilis Drimaltis at [email protected]  and should include: a CV, up to two publications (or writing samples), the names and contact information of three references, and a cover letter summarizing the candidate’s relevant background, accomplishments, and fit with the position. A transcript of graduate work (unofficial is acceptable) may also be requested. For substantive questions related to the research or positions please contact Prof. Helen Nissenbaum, [email protected].

Positions are available immediately but there is flexibility with start date depending on the needs of suitable candidates.  Review of applications will begin October 1, 2017 and continue until positions are filled.
