Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, seeks applications for an anticipated tenured/tenure-track position, open-rank. Start date: Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. The successful candidate will have a record of research excellence and will complement faculty in the Department’s area of strength in legal and political philosophy. The Department of Philosophy at Georgia State University is home to a thriving master’s program. See http://philosophy.gsu.edu/. The Department is also home to the Jean Beer Blumenfeld Center for Ethics, a research center whose programs in theoretical and applied ethics engage leading international scholars, students, and residents of the Atlanta metropolitan area. See http://ethics.gsu.edu/. The candidate would become an affiliate of the Ethics Center and actively contribute to its mission of fostering scholarly research in value theory. Georgia State University recently inaugurated a new program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), which has its home in the Department of Philosophy. The candidate’s contributions to PPE as a scholar and educator would be most welcome. See http://philosophy.gsu.edu/ppe/. Duties will include active research, graduate supervision, service to the department and the university, and classroom teaching at all levels. The standard teaching load is four courses/year. Minimum qualifications are a PhD in Philosophy or related field.
