Job description

ROLE of the POSITION

This is a tenure-track position in the Department of Philosophy that comes with the research, teaching, and service expectations of a research institution. AOS: Applied Ethics. AOC: Engineering/Environmental Ethics, pertaining to urban sustainability with attention to water issues. We seek candidates with an outstanding research program in any area of applied/practical ethics who also can participate in University initiatives in the areas of urban sustainability and water resources management. The position involves teaching courses in the philosophy major as well as regularly teaching Ethics for Scientists and Engineers—a seminar-style philosophy course, limited to 25 students per section, that is part of the general education curriculum for students in the Engineering College.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. from a regionally accredited college or university at the time of appointment. Previous experience teaching courses in engineering ethics strongly preferred.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
