The Department of Philosophy at Simon Fraser University invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, beginning September, 2018. Area of specialization (AOS): Ethics, broadly construed to include theoretical and applied ethics, political philosophy, and philosophy of law. Area of competence (AOC): open, but must be able to teach an upper-level course on Law and Philosophy. Duties include research, both undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervision of MA students, and administrative service. The teaching load is 4 courses per year on a trimester system (two courses per semester for two semesters and one research semester). Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Philosophy by the time of appointment. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. Minimum starting salary is CAD 81,480.
