Job description

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to start in August 2018. Area of specialization: open with preference for Latin American philosophy or Latina/o philosophy. Area of competence: Latin American philosophy or Latina/o philosophy.  The successful candidate will perform teaching, research, and mentorship/advising duties in area(s) of expertise and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), is an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice, committed to the advancement of justice and just societies under the leadership of its new President, former U.S. Assistant Attorney General, Karol V. Qualifications

Ph.D. required for appointment to professorial title of Assistant Professor. Degree must be completed by Summer 2017. (Outstanding ABDs considered for appointment at rank of Instructor (untenured)). We seek teachers and researchers committed to public higher education. Scholarly promise and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are required, as well as willingness to work with members of departments across the College, possibly including teaching in interdisciplinary programs and/or some team-teaching.
