UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES, Los Angeles, CA. The UCLA Department of Philosophy is offering a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship to a recent Ph.D. in philosophy whose primary area of research lies in the history of philosophy. While we welcome applications from candidates doing research on any period, we have a special interest in candidates with research interests that include Kant and/or who work on the thought of historical figures from or historical texts by members of groups that are underrepresented in academic philosophy. The fellow is required to teach two quarter-length courses in the first year and one quarter-length course in the second year of the fellowship; the fellow will also be asked to attend talks and conferences, and to participate actively in the philosophy department community. The bulk of their time will be devoted to independent research. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in a career involving teaching and research in philosophy. Typical candidates will have a doctorate in philosophy, to be granted no later than June 30, 2018. The fellowship offers a competitive salary, small research stipend, and full benefits with a start date in mid-September 2018.
