Cogut Humanities Center Postdoctoral Fellowship in Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Brown University invites applications for a 2-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Philosophy, with an area of specialization in philosophy in Islamic philosophy/philosophy in Arabic. Qualifications include a PhD in Philosophy or allied field granted between 2013 and July 1, 2018 with a scholarly ability in Arabic. This position is to be held jointly at the Cogut Institute for the Humanities of Brown University and the Department of Philosophy, effective July 1, 2018. Our goal is to appoint an exceptional scholar of philosophy in Arabic. The successful candidate will teach two courses per year in the Department of Philosophy cross-listed in the Cogut Institute's Humanities course offerings. The fellow will also be affiliated with the Cogut Institute and is expected to participate in the weekly Tuesday seminars as well as other activities of the Institute. PhD must be in hand by July 1, 2018 and must have been awarded within the last five years. Stipend of $61,500 with an increase to $63,907 the second year plus benefits and a research budget of $2,000 per year.
