Job description

Teach undergraduate courses; pursue appropriate scholarship; and participate in department, college, and university service activities. The official teaching load for this position is 5/5. Candidates must be able to teach the departments professional ethics courses (Business Ethics and Professional Ethics).

The department offers classes in both Philosophy and Religious Studies. We are a small, collegial department that values our students and quality instruction. The department plays a significant role in the university’s general education program, teaching over 40 sections a year. We are home to an ethics center and a Center for Islamic Studies. Additionally, the department brings in speakers for a university level speakers series every semester.

Position is a one-year initial appointment, but is expected to be ongoing.

Minimum Qualifications

MA in Philosophy.

Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.

Desired Qualifications        

PhD in Philosophy or completed by August 15, 2018 and Teaching experience.

While the candidate must be able to teach Business and Professional Ethics, the department also has needs for occasional classes in Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of mind. Contribution to the History of Philosophy or logic would also be helpful.
