Job description

The newly formed Centre for the Philosophy and Phenomenology of Religion, at the Australian Catholic University, promotes cutting-edge research into all aspects of Philosophy of Religion. The Centre’s research places special emphasis on the phenomenological study of religion as it has been pursued in European philosophy from Husserl and Heidegger to contemporary French phenomenology. However, other philosophical approaches, especially those that form part of the “analytic” tradition of philosophy, are also pursued by members of the Centre.

The Centre is headed by Professor Kevin Hart, an internationally acclaimed philosopher, theologian, literary theorist and poet. Other members of the Centre include: Dr. Nick Trakakis, best known for his work in philosophy of religion and meta-philosophy; Dr. Jeff Hanson, who formerly taught at Boston College and specialises in Continental Philosophy; and Dr. Chris Hackett, whose research lies at the intersections of phenomenology, philosophy and theology.

The Centre is now offering scholarships for up to two PhD students to conduct research in the philosophy and/or phenomenology of religion under the supervision of one or more of its staff.
