Job description |
SUMMARY: Siena Heights University, an Adrian Dominican Catholic institution, is seeking applicants for a continuing position for a Philosophy faculty member beginning in August 2018. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load, usually with three preparations. This position offers a special opportunity to interact with a diverse student population, many of whom are the first in their families to go to college, in an institution where faculty are known for their concern and support of students. RESPONSIBILITIES: We are a small department, so the candidate will need the ability to teach widely across the curriculum. In particular, we need a candidate who can contribute to our Ethnic and Gender Studies Institute by teaching a Philosophy of Race and Gender course. An ability to teach courses in the philosophy of religion and medieval philosophy, while not a requirement for a successful candidacy, will be of benefit. In addition to philosophy classes, the successful candidate will contribute to our liberal arts curriculum by teaching in our interdisciplinary core seminars. The position will also involve tasks such as academic advising, curriculum development, and program assessment. As a member of the Siena faculty, the successful applicant will be expected to teach assigned courses in accordance with relevant academic policies, produce scholarly work as evidence of professional accomplishment, and serve the Siena community through participation in university-wide committees and events. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load, usually with three preparations. AOS: open and AOC: open |
