Job description

Virtues & Vocations is is a national forum for scholars and practitioners across disciplines to consider how best to cultivate character in pre-professional and professional education. Virtues & Vocations is housed at the Center for Social Concerns at the University of Notre Dame and funded by the Kern Family Foundation.Virtues & Vocations hosts faculty workshops, monthly webinars, and an annual conference and publishes a magazine twice a year.

The Virtues & Vocations Postdoctoral Fellow Will:

  • Play a significant leadership role in the Integrating Virtue Together program, helping lead an annual workshop for faculty who are committed to cultivating virtues through their courses. In addition to helping lead the workshop, this person will provide high touch support and facilitate faculty meetings to assist with course redesign.

  • Work as an editor for our magazine, Virtues & Vocations: Higher Education for Human Flourishing. (This includes content editing and copyediting).

  • Facilitate connections, meetings, and workshops with Notre Dame faculty, particularly in the professional schools, who are interested in making virtue more central in their courses and programs

  • Write one article a month for our newsletter

  • Assist with monthly webinars and our annual conference

  • Preferred expertise/experience could include virtue ethics, higher education pedagogy, and learning design

Virtues & Vocations is an exciting and entrepreneurial project, and we are looking for a person who is enthusiastic about working with us to continue building a national, cross-professional forum to develop best practices for cultivating character in pre-professional and professional education. The term for this postdoc will be two or three years.
