Job description |
We wish to appoint one three-year Lecturer in Philosophy with effect from 1st October 2018. The Lectureship is for a three-year period from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2021. The successful candidate will have teaching competence in Political Philosophy, or Feminist Philosophy, or both. Teaching competence in any of the following areas would be an advantage: Aesthetics, Ethics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, History of Philosophy: Early Modern, History of Philosophy: Hegel and Nietzsche, Wittgenstein. The appointee will be expected to be engaged in high-level research, to publish in their specialist field, to seek opportunities to win external funding for their research where possible, to teach and examine undergraduates, and to supervise and examine MPhil and PhD postgraduate work. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Philosophy at the time of the application deadline. They will have an outstanding record of excellence in research, publication and teaching in Philosophy, bearing in mind their stage of career. They will be expected to teach and examine undergraduates, and to supervise and examine MPhil and PhD postgraduate work. They will also be required to take on certain administrative duties. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in College teaching for additional remuneration. The Lectureship is based in the Faculty of Philosophy, in central Cambridge.
