Job description

We wish to appoint three one-year Lectureships in Philosophy with effect from 1st October 2018. These Lectureships are each for a one-year period from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019. The successful candidates will have teaching competence in at least one of the areas listed below. Teaching competence in more than one of these areas would be an advantage: Aesthetics, Ethics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, History of Philosophy: Early Modern, History of Philosophy: Hegel and Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Political Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy

Appointees will be expected to be engaged in high-level research, to publish in their specialist field, to seek opportunities to win external funding for their research where possible, to teach and examine undergraduates, and to supervise and examine MPhil and PhD postgraduate work.

Successful applicants for all four of these Lectureships will have a PhD in Philosophy at the time of the application deadline. They will have an outstanding record of excellence in research, publication and teaching in Philosophy, bearing in mind their stage of career. They will be expected to teach and examine undergraduates, and to supervise and examine MPhil and PhD postgraduate work. They will also be required to take on certain administrative duties.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in College teaching for additional remuneration.

All three Lectureships are based in the Faculty of Philosophy, in central Cambridge.
