Job description |
The Department of Comparative Thought and Literature at Johns Hopkins University searches for a tenure-track assistant professor, with an anticipated start date on July 1, 2019. We are looking to hire a promising scholar and teacher with a focus at the intersection of comparative literature, philosophy, and aesthetics in Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, or East Asia after 1750. We are particularly interested in someone able to expand our comparative profile and offerings on modernisms and modernities in literature and philosophy beyond Europe and the Americas. The most suitable candidates will have training in more than one linguistic tradition and ideally engage in the comparative study of one or more traditions to European or American thought and literature. The Department is committed to conducting a broad and inclusive search for a candidate who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Please submit a cover letter, CV, writing sample, research statement, and three letters of reference online via Interfolio at: https://apply.interfolio.com/52542. Review of materials will begin on October 1, 2018, with a final deadline for applications on November 15, 2018.
