UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy within the School of Sociology, Philosophy, Criminology, Government, and Politics in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences.  The Lecturerwill be responsible for teaching, conducting scholarly research, postgraduate supervision, and institutional service in a collegial community of active researchers and students at the BA, MA, and PhD levels.

Strong candidates in any area of philosophy will be considered; but the Department has special needs for expertise in Philosophy of Biology and/or Philosophy of Medicine, to complement the Department’s existing strengths in conjoint areas of teaching, research, and supervision. There is particular interest in candidates with demonstrated ability to contribute to the new cross-disciplinary MA Programme in Health and Society. The ideal candidate will also contribute to undergraduate teaching outside the area of research specialisation, particularly in epistemology.

Appointment may be made on the Lectureship Salary Scale:  €33,149 - €58,547/€63,987 - €82,273.  In all instances the successful appointment will be at the first point of the scale.
