The Department of Philosophy at Knox College invites applications for a half-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor of Applied Ethics and Social Justice to begin January 1, 2019, with possibility of renewal. The College has three academic terms per year, with a teaching load of two courses per term. The candidate will teach a total of four courses, two during the winter term and two during the spring term. Candidates should be able to offer courses in applied ethics and ethics. The successful candidate will teach introductory and intermediate courses in Business Ethics and one or more courses on philosophical issues related to social justice.

All candidates should have experience in or a commitment to working with diverse populations of students. (This should be addressed in your cover letter or teaching materials.) The ideal candidate is one who is able to demonstrate not only that they can teach courses in applied ethics and on social justice but also that they are thinking creatively about problems in those areas. This position makes a vital contribution to our commitment to interdisciplinary cooperation, allowing the department to maintain connections with the Business and Management program and also to help develop
connections with Peace and Justice Studies.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in philosophy desired; but exceptional ABD candidates considered.
