PhD Studentship (EXPIRED)

This is a call for expressions of interest in a funded 4-year PhD position at the Department of Philosophy, University of Tartu (https://www.flfi.ut.ee/en). The person who fills the position will be supervised by Alex Davies (https://philpeople.org/profiles/alex-davies-1). Accordingly, those interested in topics related to his research are invited to apply. These topics include topics in the philosophy of language, epistemology of testimony and, but not at all limited to, social and political matters related to these two areas, broadly speaking.

· a brief cover letter
· a CV
· a writing sample
· a research proposal

The PhD position will be funded through a combination of sources: the EU’s Dora Plus scheme and the Estonian state. The stipend is altogether 1100 euros a month. This will comfortably cover the cost of living in Estonia, which is comparatively low. For instance, it is possible to rent an apartment for 250 euros a month and to rent a room in an apartment for significantly less. Additional stipends for travel are regularly available for PhD students at the university.

Promising candidates will be interviewed in September/October 2018 via Skype. The successful candidate will then submit a proposal for funding with Alex Davies from the Dora Plus scheme by the 10th October 2018. If the funding is awarded, then the candidate would take up the position in Spring 2019.
