Job description. The philosophy department at Rice University in Houston, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2019. AOS and AOC: open.  

The standard teaching load is two courses per semester, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research, as shown by high quality publications, presentations at significant conferences, impressive unpublished work (e.g. a recent Ph.D. dissertation), and strong recommendations from referees.  The candidate will show a commitment to excellent and innovative teaching.  The person hired will be able to take advantage of, and contribute to, some of the many opportunities for collaboration both on campus and beyond, and will take an active role in charting the department’s ambitious future course.
