Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin July 1, 2019. AOS: Open. AOC: one or more of the following: Africana/African American Philosophy, Arabic and Islamic Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, East or South Asian Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy, Native American Philosophy, Philosophy of Gender, or Philosophy of Race.

The successful candidate will contribute regularly to one or more of the following interdisciplinary programs by offering courses in that program or philosophy courses that contribute to that program: Africana Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Middle East and South Asia Studies, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Teaching load is 5 undergraduate courses over two 12-week semesters, plus one 4-week intensive May term course every other year. Thesis and independent study supervision. Normal departmental service. No summer teaching. Ph.D. prior to appointment.
