The Department of Philosophy at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for the William F. Dietrich Professor of Philosophy to begin August 2019 at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Candidates must have a distinguished record of research in bioethics, medical ethics, and/or environmental ethics and demonstrated competence in teaching undergraduate courses in all these areas and in ethical theory, as well as graduate courses in the area of specialization. We seek a an experienced and dynamic candidate who will maintain a high level of research productivity, as evidenced through a sustained level of scholarly publications and grant applications, who will actively contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary Ph.D. program, and who will work collaboratively with the University’s College of Science, College of Engineering, Environmental Studies Program, and/or College of Medicine to build intellectual bridges, particularly as they relate to the University’s commitment to STEM initiatives. The hired candidate will teach a 2-2 course schedule that may include both undergraduate and graduate courses. Additional responsibilities will include sustaining a high level of research, mentoring students and/or faculty, participating in programmatic development in the Department and/or College, and engaging in professional and University service. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Philosophy, a distinguished record of research and publication, and a demonstrated record of teaching.
