Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy (EXPIRED)

The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the inaugural Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy. We seek to appoint a prominent individual who is deeply engaged in either the analytical scholarship or practice of conservative thinking and policymaking. Thus, applications will be welcome from the academic, military, media, and policy communities, among others. We anticipate that the Visiting Scholar will establish an open and vigorous dialogue on campus featuring the principles of conservatism in historical and contemporary contexts.


The successful candidate will receive a senior appointment, without tenure, in the department most closely suited to his or her interests. The term of the appointment is variable, with a minimum of one semester. We intend to appoint the inaugural Visiting Scholar for arrival in August 2013. Specific duties will include teaching undergraduate courses, delivering public lectures, and organizing visiting speakers and other relevant events. The compensation package is competitive, including relocation subsidy, housing assistance, dedicated budget and administrative assistance.
