Job description

Position Summary

The Department of Philosophy at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado invites applicants for a visiting instructor faculty position in Philosophy for academic year 2019-20.  This is a one-year sabbatical replacement position.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • All applicants must have completed a PhD in philosophy by August 15, 2019
  • All applicants should be prepared to teach upper-division and lower-division courses in ethics
  • All applicants must have teaching experience and be able to provide evidence of teaching excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • It is preferred that applicants have training in analytic philosophy
  • Expertise in political philosophy is also preferred  

Major Responsibilities

The successful applicant will teach four courses (12 credits) per semester: two sections of ethics and one section of environmental ethics each term, plus political philosophy in the fall and metaethics in the spring.
