Philosophy Instructor (EXPIRED)

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Teach ethical and legal issues in health care college-level courses in philosophy. The primary assignment will be philosophy section PHL 244. 
• Teach a diverse student body in daytime, evening, and Saturday classes on the main campus, at extension centers, and business and industry sites.
• Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable College committee activities, and other forms of College service.
• Prepare and develop appropriate instructional materials for the curriculum.
• Participate actively in professional activities such as, but not limited to, curriculum planning, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision, and other professional planning activities on a year round basis.
• Maintain an active program of professional development related to institutional objectives.
• Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Philosophy with documented specialization in medical ethics and law (which should include coursework and teaching, but may also involve publication/presentation, membership on hospital ethics committee or ethics consults).
• Equivalent of two (2) years of full-time successful teaching experience (equates to 900 student contact/clock hours), preferably at the community college level.
