JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Political Science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in politics and public policy to begin on August 14, 2019. A full-time lecturer position at UAH is a teaching position with a 4/4 teaching load, both undergraduate and graduate courses, but no research responsibilities. Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. degree in Political Science or a Ph.D. degree in a related discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in Political Science. We are seeking a candidate with a concentration in domestic or international public policy. In addition, candidates must be able to teach courses in national and international intelligence and security to contribute to a planned program in criminal justice and intelligence studies. ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Alabama in Huntsville comprises 10 departments and 94 full-time faculty. We offer a wide array of programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences including 25 B.A. programs, five M.A. programs, and six certificate programs. We recently added a BFA with a Gaming and Animation track. The college has also led the way in creating several interdisciplinary minors, such as Women’s and Gender Studies, Global Studies, and Science, Technology, and Society. Our class sizes are relatively small and our collegial faculty are committed to our students’ successes. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Political Science offers a BA major and minor in Political Science, an MA in Public Affairs & Policy, a Pre-Law Certificate Program (undergraduate, with the Department of Philosophy), and an International Security Policy Certificate Program (graduate). The undergraduate curriculum provides a major and a minor in political science with courses offered in American government, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, public law, public policy, and methodology. The graduate program focuses on domestic and international public policy, including policy formation, implementation, and evaluation, with special emphasis in intelligence and security studies.
