Description of Responsibilities: Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Area of Specialization: Open. Area of Competency: Open. The Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy will teach history of ancient, modern, or recent philosophy. Courses may also include philosophy of science, philosophy of language, courses with a global perspective, or courses addressing philosophical issues surrounding diversity, such as philosophy and gender or philosophy and race. Normal semester teaching responsibilities will be one large course and two smaller courses. The Visiting Assistant Professor will work with students on improving their writing skills. Some student advising is also expected.
In addition, the Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, to possess a commitment to undergraduate education, and to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
Required Qualifications: ABD in philosophy or related area with verifiable defense date
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in philosophy or related area
