  • 21-month part-time (0.6) fixed-term contract starting in October 2012
  • Salary in the range of £16,731 per annum and £18,164 per annum including London Weighting Allowance £1,280.40 (which is pro rata 60% of £27,885 per annum to £30,273 per including London Weighting Allowance, £2,134 per annum (Heythrop Salary Scales Grade 6.4 to 6.7), depending on experience.

Heythrop is a specialist college of the University of London, with around 1000 students, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. The Heythrop Institute: Religious and Society (HIRS), part of the College, is a centre for critical reflection on contemporary issues and is both a resource and a stimulus for formulating Christian responses to the many complex questions that arise today.

HIRS seeks to appoint a research and project administrator whose primary responsibility will be to coordinate the 21-month research project Visions for Educational Leadership (VfEL) which the Institute will carry out in collaboration with the Catholic Education Service.  The VfEL project will use a theologically based action research methodology in order to build theological and ethical capacity for leadership in Catholic education in England and Wales. In addition, the post holder will act as general administrator of HIRS. The post is part-time - 0.6 fte with a split of 0.4 for the VfEL role and 0.2 for the HIRS Administrator role.

We are looking to attract someone with sound academic research experience, educated to postgraduate degree level in a relevant discipline (such as education, theology or social sciences), and who has experience in project management.

The post holder will also be a good communicator, able to work on his/her own initiative, and will have understanding and experience in the field of education and church school sector. Travel will be required at times, including overnight stays, to set up and supervise research activities.
