Postdoc & Lecturer (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Virginia invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Lecturer position.  We are seeking an outstanding teacher who is pursuing a vibrant research agenda.  The successful candidate will contribute to our mission to strengthen the humanities by teaching three courses during the academic year and by participating in the intellectual life of the department.  Fall courses will be PHIL 3120, Aristotle, and PHIL 3150, 17th Century Philosophy.  The spring class is yet to be determined (and partly negotiable).     QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS: Candidates must have completed all requirements for the PhD in Philosophy by the appointment start date.  Candidates must have significant and relevant teaching experience, in addition to a significant and ongoing research agenda.   APPLICATION PROCEDURE:  Apply at https://uva.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/UVAJobs by attaching a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and writing sample.  We will ask for references at the next stage of the search.   APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin on Monday, June 17, 2019, but the position will remain open until filled.  This is a one-year academic appointment, without possibility of renewal.  The salary is $47,500.
