Job description |
Boston College. Assistant Professor of the Practice, Philosophy; full-time, non-tenure track, 3-year contact (renewable). AOS: Open; AOC: Broad familiarity with the history of philosophy. The successful candidate will have a record of demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy and a commitment to scholarly research. Responsibilities include contributing to the undergraduate core (3-3 course load). The person hired will be expected to teach Perspectives, and/or PULSE, and/or Philosophy of the Person, and/or perhaps another elective course, required for Philosophy majors (e.g., Logic). The department supports two interdisciplinary core curriculum programs, one in the study of major philosophical and theological texts (Perspectives on Western Culture) and one in a social justice program of ethical, political, and theological analysis for students engaged in service learning (PULSE Program). Philosophy of the Person is a year-long introduction to philosophy foregrounding fundamental ethical questions and primary sources in the history of philosophy.
