Must be able to teach language courses in Greek and/or Latin.  Seven course load (three per semester plus one in either a May Term or August Term).  Will teach at least two courses annually in Philosophy along with at least two in Classics, as well as contribute in rotation with other faculty members to Transylvania’s first-year interdisciplinary core curriculum.  Will be expected to develop other classes in Classics as well as Philosophy at all levels and that serve the GE curriculum.  Normal service and committee work.  Summer teaching possible.  ABD applications accepted.  Please send full CV (including courses taught), statement of teaching philosophy, sample of scholarly writing, graduate school transcript, and three letters of recommendation as PDFs to the Search Committee at [email protected] by November 9, 2012.  Evidence of teaching excellence an advantage.  Bingham startup grants available.  We expect to interview candidates at the American Philosophical Association in Atlanta and the American Philological Association in Seattle.  Enhancing diversity and inclusion on our campus is a strategic priority.
