Job description

Wilkes University invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Humanities Division beginning August 2013.  This is a one-year position that can be renewed up to three times with the possibility of a three-year agreement after the first three years. Our program focuses on Philosophy as it is relevant to the art of living. We aim to grow the program and hope to have a tenure-track position when this is accomplished.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a twelve-hour semester teaching load that includes two sections of Introduction to Philosophy per semester.  A Ph.D. in Philosophy is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered.  We are looking for an individual with areas of specialization and of competence in areas that will fit well with the focus of our program.  The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching at the college level.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
