Visiting Lecturer, History and Philosophy of Medicine

University of Pittsburgh, Department of History and Philosophy of Science,  

Rank:  Visiting Lecturer, beginning January 1, 2022.

The Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Pittsburgh seeks candidates to fill a position as a Visiting Lecturer specializing in History and Philosophy of Medicine for Spring Term 2022..  

Required Qualifications: (1) A PhD in History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy or a closely related field expected by the proposed start date and (2) evidence of teaching experience. 

Responsibilities:  Undergraduate teaching (two sections of the Development of Modern Medicine and one section of Medicine and Morality, these sections are capped at 30 students each)  and regular departmental duties. 

Applicants should submit a CV, letters of recommendation (see additional instructions at bottom of job website), evidence of teaching ability, and sample syllabi.  

In addition, applicants are expected to provide a brief personal statement that addresses their contributions to diversity through research, teaching, service and/or community engagement. Please mention any past contributions as well as any planned or potential contributions.
