Director of Latina/o Studies Program (Associate/Professor of Latina/o Studies)
The Pennsylvania State University, College of the Liberal Arts, invites applications and nominations for a senior, tenure-track position in Latina/o Studies. The appointee will serve a fixed term as the director of an independent Latina/o Studies Program. The responsibilities will include building the program and mentoring students, leading an upcoming search for another tenure-line Latino/a Studies faculty member, and teaching Latina/o curriculum in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the tenure-home department. The position is to be filled at the rank of tenured Associate or Professor and the preferred starting date is August 11, 2017. The field of specialization is open within the humanities and social sciences. The tenure home will be in one of the following departments within the College of the Liberal Arts: Comparative Literature; History; Philosophy; Political Science; Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese; or Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
Responsibilities of every tenured faculty member also include maintaining an outstanding program of research and publication, and providing service to the academic units, College, and University. A Ph.D. in an academic discipline, substantial research and publication in Latina/o topics, and a successful record of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including thesis and dissertation supervision, is required. Program or department administrative experience is highly desirable.
