Department Head (EXPIRED)

UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for Head of its Department of Philosophy. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy, and scholarly and research credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of Professor. We seek an individual with a distinguished record of research, excellent teaching, and relevant service or administrative experience. The successful candidate will provide leadership for a department of 10 or more tenured or tenure-line faculty and roughly as many lecturers, which supports a doctoral program. The unit employs two full-time administrative assistants, enrolls 25-30 graduate students and offers an undergraduate program consisting of about 80 majors.  Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and students are especially important. Ability to enhance the department’s diversity profile is desirable. The salary will be competitive.
