Job description |
The University of Mississippi
Public Policy Leadership. The Department of Public Policy Leadership at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship to begin in August 2017. The successful candidate will advance an active research agenda that incorporates philosophy, public policy, and leadership. He/she will also teach two of the department’s required courses: PPL 212 “Critical Thinking, Communication, and Public Policy” (which combines instruction in critical thinking and public speaking) and PPL 300, “Ethics, Public Policy and Leadership,” along with other courses already existing in the curriculum and/or new courses in her/his area of specialization. A Ph. D. in Philosophy is required at the time of employment, as is a record of excellence in research and teaching. The Department provides a challenging undergraduate major that prepares high-performing students for positions of leadership in an increasingly complex world. The interdisciplinary curriculum for the major incorporates economics, geography, philosophy, political science, public administration, and public policy. The program emphasizes the global nature of responsible decision-making; the ethical imperatives of leadership; critical thinking and communication skills; and the conceptual and methodological skills necessary for careful policy analysis.
