The Department of Politics and Philosophy at the University of Idaho (http://www.uidaho.edu/class/politics-and-philosophy) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in social/political philosophy, broadly construed. The appointment is expected to begin mid-August 2017, Duties will include active scholarly research, normal committee service, undergraduate teaching and advising, and limited graduate teaching. The standard teaching load is five courses per year (3/2 semester load). Teaching responsibilities will include Philosophy of Law and other courses that contribute to the Philosophy Major and to the Political Science curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach one or more of the following: Environmental Philosophy, Epistemology, Feminist Philosophy, Metaphysics, Non-Western Philosophy, or Philosophy of Science (broadly construed). Salary is competitive and contingent on experience. The department is particularly interested in recruiting candidates who display the highest standards of excellence in research, teaching, and professional activity. Experience with civic engagement or pre-law programs is a plus. PhD in Philosophy or closely related field required prior to the appointment’s start date.
