Job description

Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track position, to start in September 2017. Ph.D. with specialization in philosophy of the environment, nature and/or the life sciences, and with a background in the phenomenological tradition and broad competence in the history of philosophy. Other desirable areas of competence may include American philosophy, history of 20th century philosophy, philosophy of science, environmental ethics, animal ethics, bioethics. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to develop philosophy courses that serve students in environmental studies and in the sciences. Teach seven courses (3-1-3) per academic year. Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including regular rotation in a two-semester freshman program. Opportunities to take students abroad.
