Wilde Professorship of Mental Philosophy

Start date: 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Faculty of Philosophy is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to fill the Wilde Professorship of Mental Philosophy.

The successful candidate will be a philosopher of the highest international standing, with an outstanding record of research and publication in philosophy of mind and related areas, the ability to teach and inspire students at all levels, and the ability and willingness to undertake senior administrative duties. The person appointed will be expected to play a leading role in research and teaching in philosophy of mind and related areas at Oxford. They will provide strong research leadership and be ready both to represent and promote the interests of philosophy of mind and related areas, and of philosophy more generally, among the whole community of students and faculty members in Oxford, to generate interest in the subject within the academic world and beyond, and to lead interdisciplinary initiatives as appropriate.
