Job description |
Lawrence Fellow in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Tracking Code 377-662 The Department of Philosophy at Lawrence University invites applications for a Lawrence Fellow in the Liberal Arts and Sciences to begin in September 2017. The successful candidate must demonstrate a capacity and willingness to teach courses in applied ethics and ethical theory that will complement existing department strengths and contribute to interdisciplinary programs on campus. In particular, the candidate must be able to contribute to Lawrence’s interdisciplinary program in Biomedical Ethics by teaching Introduction to Biomedical Ethics and Advanced Biomedical Ethics. The candidate would also be expected to contribute to Lawrence’s Freshman Studies Program. The initial appointment is for two years with a reduced teaching load. Instead of the usual six courses per year on a 10-week term system (2 courses each term), the fellow will teach three courses in the first year and four in the second (at least one course per term) to provide time to pursue research and develop excellence in undergraduate teaching. Applications are welcome from candidates who have or expect to have a Ph.D. by the start date, September 1, 2017. Applicants should not have held the degree for more than three years by the date of appointment. Please include a letter of application, CV, sample of writing, evidence of excellence in teaching, and letters of recommendation. Lawrence is committed to enhancing the diversity of its faculty and staff and the viewpoints and approaches that a diverse community represents. We strongly encourage candidates who can contribute to diversity at Lawrence to apply. See the Lawrence Careers website for more information about Lawrence and its surrounding community. All candidates are encouraged to address in their letters of application the ways in which they could contribute to Lawrence’s institutional mission and commitment to diversity. The committee prefers that applications be submitted by January 30, 2017. Job LocationAppleton, , United StatesPosition TypePart-Time |
