Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Philosophy Department at Molloy College invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy to start September 2017.  Normal teaching duties include 12 credits per semester at the undergraduate level (with course reduction at the graduate level), primarily in the areas of Ethics, Applied Ethics, and the History of Philosophy.  

Since Molloy has one of the largest Nursing programs in the nation, we are especially interested in someone who has taught-and who has the potential to do research-in the field of Medical Ethics. The ideal candidate, however, would be someone who also has the ability to teach other courses in Applied Ethics (e.g., Business Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Social Ethics, etc.) as well as occasional courses in the History of Philosophy.  The ability to teach hybrid and/or online courses is highly desirable. 

The Department has a strong need for someone with peer-reviewed publications in Ethics and/or Applied Ethics as well as a proven track-record of teaching excellence and a dynamic personality that can attract students to major in Philosophy.   

Required qualifications include: PhD in Philosophy with specialization in Ethics/Applied Ethics required. ABDs with documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered. College-level teaching experience in Ethics and Philosophy. Peer-reviewed publications in Ethics and/or Applied Ethics.
