Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Northern Michigan University invites applications for a one-year term position at the rank of instructor for the 2017-2018 academic year. This is a full-time, one-year sabbatical replacement position. Course load will be 12 credits per semester, with multiple preps each term. Teaching responsibilities will include world religions, philosophy of religion, and/or existentialism. Minimum Qualifications: MA and ABD in Philosophy or Religious Studies; college teaching experience; AOS: World Religions or Philosophy of Religion; AOC: Continental Philosophy (esp. Existentialism) or Philosophy of Religion; graduate coursework or teaching experiencing evidencing AOS and AOC; must have graduate coursework or teaching experience in world religions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to teach at the undergraduate level; ability to work with others; ability to incorporate application of laptop computers in the learning environment; good oral and written communication skills. Additional Desirable Qualifications: PhD in Philosophy or Religious Studies; experience teaching courses in AOC, AOC, and world religions. The review of applicants will begin March 5, 2017.
