Job description |
The position is affiliated with the Cologne Center for Contemporary Epistemology and the Kantian Tradition (CONCEPT), co-sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in philosophy and a proven record of excellence in teaching and research in Kant and German Idealism. S/he will also be a specialist in epistemology, broadly conceived. The successful candidate will have experience in international, collaborative research and in obtaining and administering grant funding. S/he will be expected to work closely with CONCEPT across all areas of activity (teaching, research, and service). In the third year after the appointment there will be an interim evaluation. On the basis of this evaluation, the contract may be renewed for three more years. The teaching load is four semester hours (i.e., two 90-minute courses per semester) in the first qualification phase and five semester hours in the second qualification phase. At the end of the six-year term, the appointee may be offered to undergo another assessment. The outcome of this assessment determines whether the appointee is offered a permanent non-professorial teaching position.
