The University of Auckland is home to the leading and most comprehensive Arts Faculty in New Zealand. It is ranked 25 in the QS World University Rankings by Faculty for 2017. The School of Humanities, comprising the disciplines of Art History, Classics and Ancient History, English and Drama, History, Philosophy and Theological and Religious Studies, constitutes the largest concentration of Humanities scholars in the nation and ranks first nationally in all of the QS subjects if offers.

The School of Humanities at the University of Auckland invites applications for a full-time, permanent appointment as Lecturer (equivalent of Assistant Professor in North America) in Philosophy, commencing at the beginning of 2018.

The field of appointment is open, however we particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in metaphysics, philosophy of mind, epistemology, philosophy of language, moral philosophy, and the history of philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to develop upper-level undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their field of expertise, and also to contribute to Philosophy's first-year teaching programme.

Applicants should have a PhD in Philosophy. The successful candidate will have a capacity for productive, high quality research, demonstrated experience of successful undergraduate teaching and the readiness to undertake postgraduate supervision. In the University we want to reflect the diversity of our city and therefore welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
