UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy within the School of Sociology and Philosophy in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences. The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching, conducting scholarly research, postgraduate supervision, and institutional service in a collegial community of active researchers and students at the BA, MA, and PhD levels.

The Department seeks candidates with research and teaching specialization in East Asian (Chinese and, preferably, Japanese) philosophy, and who have aptitude for and commitment to leading and coordinating a new Philosophy in Schools initiative, and a possible new initiative in teaching Asian culture and styles of thinking to Irish people doing business in East Asia. The candidate will be expected to link with existing research in the Department, to form effective research clusters and to collaborate in the development of future joint research projects.
