Job description

Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Centre College invites applications for tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, beginning August 2018.  The Philosophy program seeks a teacher-scholar who will enhance the living, learning, and teaching environment at Centre College with their lived experience, ideas, perspectives, and scholarship. AOS: Open. AOC: Ethical theory and applied ethics, including environmental ethics. The Philosophy program has had important and standing connections with Environmental Studies, Gender Studies, and Latin American Studies. It welcomes the opportunity to establish connections with African and African-American Studies, as well as Asian and Asian-American Studies. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and must be willing to contribute to the First-Year Humanities sequence and the Environmental Studies Program. Course load is six per year.  Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in a student-centered environment.  Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching and mentoring a diverse student body.
